The reason a biometric sample could not be captured. Used on BiometricSample records where exception_reason is non-null, indicating the record documents a capture failure rather than holding actual biometric data.

Code Label Standard code Definition
amputated Amputated The body part has been amputated.
bandaged Bandaged The body part is bandaged and cannot be scanned.
damaged Damaged The body part is damaged (scarring, skin condition) preventing capture.
unable_to_capture Unable to capture The biometric could not be captured for another reason (device failure, subject unable to cooperate).
