Family
https://publicschema.org/Family
A kinship network of persons connected by blood, marriage, or adoption. A family is defined by relational ties, not by co-residence or shared budget: members may live across multiple households or geographic areas. Kinship links between members are represented as Relationship records between Person instances. Systems that use "family" to mean the co-residential unit should set group_type: family on their Household record for interoperability.

No OpenCRVS equivalent. OpenIMIS uses 'family' where other systems use 'household'. Family currently carries no local properties: kinship, marriage, and adoption ties named in the definition are represented via Relationship records between Person instances rather than as dedicated properties on Family. The group_type: family code on Household provides an interoperability bridge for systems that model co-residential units under the "family" label.
