An identified sample of plant genetic material kept and maintained by a genebank or other collection under an accession number that the maintaining institute assigns when the sample enters the collection. An accession can have several physical samples or seed lots and need not be a named variety.

Accession variety concept:PlantVariety
The variety that the accession represents, when established. The accession and the variety remain distinct, and this relation is not the inverse of a variety's origin accessions.
Accession collection date string
The date on which the sample was collected to the precision known, in ISO 8601 form as a year (1990), a year and month (1990-07) or a full date (1990-07-15). A collecting date recorded with missing parts, such as 1990----, keeps only its known parts (1990).
